WINNING CONDITIONS

In addition to possessing 1 Golden Star badge (earned by winning a Challenge turn), the player must successfully move (place a colored token) to all the following areas by answering questions on the question cards corresponding to the province/city:

  • Provinces of Lào Cai, Lai Châu, Hà Giang, and Yên Bái

  • 1 province/city in the Red River Delta region with a group 3 space

  • 1 province/city in the South Central Coast region with a group 4 space

  • 1 province/city in the Southeast region with a group 5 space


SPECIAL PRIVILEGES

If the player reaches a province/city that is within the ethnic group’s homeland they represent, they receive a special privilege (can only be claimed ONCE during the entire game):

  • Confiscate 2 province/city markers of any other player on the board and return them to the bank OR

  • Convert 1 province/city marker of another player into their own marker

ETHNIC GROUP INFORMATION

Origin and Migration: The Giáy people originate from China and migrated to Vietnam about 300 years ago.


Religion and Beliefs: Ancestor worship, land deity worship, forest spirits. Family clans worship various animals reflected in their rituals.


Arts: Traditional musical instruments include drums, gongs, and pí lè (a type of flute). Dance styles include lantern dances and fan dances.


Clothing:

  • Men wear long tunics that cover the knees and loose pants.

  • Women wear flared skirts and four-panel long dresses (in Hà Giang), satin pants, and short shirts (in Lào Cai and Lai Châu).


Cuisine:

  • Main staple foods: ordinary rice, boiled rice, rice water soup similar to porridge.

  • Traditional cakes: rounded square sticky rice cake (bánh chưng gù), tò he figurine cakes.


Housing:Stilt houses and ground-level houses with roofs made from straw or dry grass, typically with three main rooms and an attic for storing agricultural products.
